This growing Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery practice is seeking a Physician Assistant.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with Thoracic surgery. The ideal candidate will have Thoracic experience.



Responsibilities:

· Make daily rounds, record progress notes, write routine orders (comfort and diet, laboratory tests, non-invasive examinations).

· Coordinate treatment and assistance in management of preoperative and postoperative care.

· Assists the supervising physician in the management of patients, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the physician's supervision.

· Work closely and assists the physician in providing quality, efficient and continuous and cost-effective care during the patient's hospitalization.

· Prepare patients for discharge from the hospital.

· Support the cardiovascular team as needed.

· Educate patients and family regarding disease, procedures, medications, nutrition, health care and post-discharge care.

· Act as liaison between patients and physician.

· Manage appropriate patient databases.

· Will perform other duties as assigned.

· Occasional Travel



Qualifications:

· Virginia Physician Assistant License required.

· 1 to 2 years of experience

· Bachelor's Degree
